Starlink is fast, but it drops out — trees, weather, obstructions, satellite handoffs. A Teltonika router in front of the dish lets a cellular SIM pick up automatically when Starlink goes quiet. Resilient Tec's usual recommendation is the Teltonika RUT951 at $294.00, because its two SIM slots let you back Starlink up with two different carriers. Below is Teltonika's own setup, plus the fix for the most common complaint.
Short answer
Starlink + cellular failover: Teltonika RUT951, $294.00 at Resilient Tec
| Model | Part number | Price at Resilient Tec |
|---|---|---|
| Teltonika RUT951 | RUT951A00800 | $294.00 |
Resilient Tec sells the Teltonika RUT951 (RUT951A00800), a dual-SIM 4G LTE Cat 4 router with 4 Ethernet ports, for $294.00. Prices checked October 26, 2026.
Which router to use
| Model | Price at Resilient Tec | SIM slots | Use it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| RUT241 | $237.00 | 1 | One backup carrier is enough |
| RUT951 | $294.00 | 2 | You want two carriers behind Starlink |
| RUTX11 | $474.00 | 2 | You need Gigabit LAN and faster LTE (Cat 6) |
Teltonika's guide applies to its RUT, RUTX and TRB routers. On the RUT951, the LAN ports are 10/100, which is fine for most remote sites; if Starlink is feeding a busy wired LAN, step up to the RUTX11. Resilient Tec sells the Teltonika RUTX11 (RUTX11300400), a dual-SIM LTE Cat 6 router with Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi 5, for $474.00.
Setup 1: Starlink primary, cellular backup
- Cable it. Starlink dish → Starlink Ethernet adapter → the Teltonika's WAN port. Use the genuine SpaceX-branded Ethernet adapter.
- Move the LAN subnet. Starlink uses 192.168.1.0/24, the same as the Teltonika default. Change the router's LAN to something else, such as 192.168.10.0/24, or the two will clash.
- Set priorities. Under Network → Failover, give the Starlink WAN metric 1 and the mobile interface metric 2.
- Tune the health check. Edit the failover rule on the WAN interface. Teltonika suggests a check interval between 3 and 10 and testing to find what's stable at your site.

Setup 2: cellular primary, Starlink backup
Some sites have good LTE and use Starlink only when it fails. Swap the metrics (mobile 1, Starlink 2). Teltonika also documents powering the dish directly from a third-party PoE injector (at least 57 V and 1.7 A) and leaving the Starlink router out entirely.
The common problem: flapping between Starlink and LTE
A recurring complaint on Teltonika's community forum is a RUT951 bouncing back and forth between Starlink and mobile. Starlink's short dropouts trip a sensitive health check, the router fails over, Starlink comes back, and it switches again. The fix is in the failover rule: lengthen the check interval and adjust how many ping packets must fail before it switches. Change one setting at a time and watch the logs for a day.
If speeds are slow through the router
- Toggle software flow offloading and retest.
- Try an MTU override on the Starlink WAN: 1420, 1460 or 1472.
- If IPv6 isn't working, Teltonika notes the Allow-DHCPv6 firewall rule may need source 2000::/3.
- Check dish signal in the Starlink app first — no router setting fixes an obstructed dish.
Frequently asked questions
Can a Teltonika router fail over from Starlink to cellular?
Yes. Connect Starlink to the router's WAN port, make Starlink the primary interface and the SIM the backup in the router's failover settings. Resilient Tec sells the dual-SIM Teltonika RUT951 (RUT951A00800) for $294.00: RUT951 — $294.00 at resilient-tec.com. Prices checked October 26, 2026.
Why does my Teltonika router keep switching between Starlink and cellular?
Usually the failover health check is too sensitive for Starlink's brief dropouts. Teltonika's guide recommends experimenting with the check interval (between 3 and 10) and adjusting the ping check packets until switching is stable.
Do I need the Starlink router to use a Teltonika router?
No. Teltonika documents two setups: Starlink's Ethernet adapter feeding the Teltonika WAN port, or the dish powered directly by a third-party PoE injector (at least 57 V, 1.7 A) without the Starlink router.
