MPO-12/APC 1:2 Splitter Cables — Custom Built to Order (MFP7E20 Equivalent)
The 1:2 MPO-12/APC splitter is the cable NVIDIA specifies for NDR200 mode — one twin-port 800G OSFP switch port feeding four adapters at 200G each. Resilient Tec builds these to order: your length, your fiber type, your polarity, confirmed in writing before anything is cut.
When you need a splitter instead of a straight cable
A twin-port 800G OSFP module supports two topologies, and the cable is what selects between them. Get this wrong and the link still comes up — at half the rate you planned for.

What a splitter does to your link rate
Each split end carries two of the module's four channels. A 400G adapter receiving two channels negotiates down to 200G and drops its power draw accordingly — roughly 8.5 W to 5.5 W on an MMA4Z00-NS400. That is intended behavior, not a fault.
The catch is that nothing flags it. Plug a splitter into a port where you expected 400G and you get a healthy link at half the rate, with no error anywhere to tell you why. Decide the topology before you order the fiber.
The rule that catches people
Both ports on a twin-port module must run the same fiber type. Two straight cables, or two splitters. Never one of each. NVIDIA is explicit about this and it is the single most common way a splitter order goes wrong.

Why this one is built to order
Straight MPO-12/APC trunks are a stock item because the lengths are predictable. Splitters are not. The leg lengths depend on where the four adapters sit relative to the switch, and a splitter that is two metres too long becomes a coil of slack in a cable arm — which is exactly where fiber gets crushed.

Frequently asked questions
Can a splitter cable give me two 400G links from one 800G port?
No. It gives you two 200G links, because each split end carries two of the four channels. For two full 400G links out of one twin-port module, use two straight cables — one out of each MPO port.
What is the MFP7E20?
MFP7E20-Nxxx is NVIDIA's part number for the 1:2 multimode MPO-12/APC splitter used with NDR optics. MFP7E40-Nxxx is the single-mode equivalent. We build compatible assemblies to the same optical and mechanical spec.
Can I mix a straight cable and a splitter on one twin-port module?
No. Both ports on a twin-port transceiver have to run the same fiber type.
Do you stock 1:2 splitters?
No — they are built to order so the leg lengths match your rack. Send us the geometry and we will quote the build and the lead time together.
Can I flip the polarity in the field if it arrives wrong?
Not on APC. Field-configurable polarity only works on flat UPC connectors; an 8° angled ferrule cannot be rotated without destroying the optical interface. This is why we confirm polarity and key orientation in writing before the build starts.
